Titan Glute & Hamstring H-PND Combo Review | Buying Guide

May 30th 2020

If you ask me to choose only one piece of equipment to keep in my home gym, it would be this, the titan glute & hamstring H-PND combo machine.

The titan glute & hamstring H-PND combo machine is a machine designed to target the entire lower body.

It is a glute hamstring raise machine combined with a reverse hyperextension machine, two of the greatest machines that can be used to build lower body size and strength combined into one.

This machine is a BEAST.

With the plethora of exercises you can perform on this machine, you can workout your entire lower body, saving you money and giving you the most bang for your buck.

In this article, we will be discussing what makes the titan glute & hamstring machine a monster, it’s specifications, as well as who would benefit from purchasing it.

Now before we discuss the beast itself, I wanted to discuss the significance of the glute-hamstring raise, as well as reverse hyperextensions.

What is the glute-hamstring raise?

The glute-hamstring raise is one of the best exercises you can perform for the lower body in order to develop mass in your glutes and hamstrings.

The glute-hamstring raise must be performed with a machine that holds your calves down while you allow your torso to fall towards the ground due to gravity and at the same time, your lower body contracts to slow the fall so that your glutes and hamstrings are working eccentrically.

It is a body-weight exercise that places maximum emphasis on the glutes and hamstrings which is what makes it so good.

In addition, because it is working the muscle eccentrically, it is causing more muscle fiber damage which will lead to more growth in the long run.

If you are looking to develop your glutes and hamstrings, you really want to add this exercise into your routine.

Unfortunately, the only way you can easily perform this exercise is with a glute-hamstring machine.

As stated before, a glute-hamstring machine will stabilize your calves, and it is also elevated so your upper body can fall even lower placing more stress on your glutes and hamstrings.

The titan glute & hamstring H-PND combo combines both a glute-hamstring machine with the next exercise I’m about to discuss which is the reverse hyperextension.

Now, what is a reverse hyperextension?

While the hyperextension involves extending your back up towards the air while your legs are fixated in one position, the reverse hyperextension fixates your back while you extend your legs and hips towards the air.

The reverse hyperextension is a very popular exercise popularized by Westside Barbell trainer Louie Simmons who used it to help treat his lower back pain.

Not only does it strengthen the lower body such as the glutes and hamstrings, but it also strengthens the lower back, decreasing your chance of injury.

The reverse hyperextension is a staple for any powerlifter or those involved in any type of sport which increases the risk of lower back pain.

Similar to the glute-hamstring raise exercise, a reverse hyperextension can only be performed with the use of a machine.

You could theoretically perform it on a couch, but you won’t be able to load it with weights which is exactly what the titan glute & hamstring H-PND machine will allow you to do.

As you know now, the titan glute & hamstring H-PND machine combines the best of both worlds allowing you to perform the glute-hamstring raise and the reverse hyperextension.

Both which normally require their own separate machines.

But it gets even better, with the way the machine is designed, it can also allow additional exercises such as hamstring curls, back extensions, sit-ups, static holds, inversions, hyperextensions, and many more. You are limited by your imagination.

Now onto the specifications of the machine.

Pros and cons of the titan glute & hamstring H-PND combo machine

Pros

  • Fully adjustable – Some of the parts you can adjust on this machine include the handles, pendulum, foothold, footplate, and the footplate height and length.

It is fully adjustable to fit all shapes and sizes, but as you’ll see later on in the cons, some pieces are not as adjustable.

  • Easy to assemble – the product comes in two packages with easy-to-follow instructions.

Assembly took a couple of hours to complete but there were no missing parts and no hiccups

  • Great for building the lower-body musculature and lower back – as stated before, the machine allows you to perform many exercises targeting the lower body and lower back.

It allows you to overload these exercises with weights which allow you to build more muscle and strength rather than performing these exercises with simply your body weight.

  • Very stable and secure, no tipping or loss of balance – the machine has a very wide base making it sturdy on the ground.

Nothing is worse than having a machine that tips or falls over during an intense set.

I never had any issues with balance with this machine.

Cons

  • If you are using weights with the reverse hyperextension, you need to slowly control the bar down or else it will swing and hit the rail – this isn’t that big of a con because you shouldn’t be completely letting the weight go at the top but this is just something to keep in mind
  • All padding is adjustable but obviously there is a limit on what can be adjusted.

Certain parts like the padding for the glute-hamstring raise is a bit more restricted on how far it can be adjusted forward.

I can see taller people above 6’2” having trouble getting into the right setup with this machine.

  • Takes up a lot of space – I have this machine in my garage and I never had a problem with it, but for my buddies with limited space, it could be an issue

Final review

Overall, the titan glute & hamstring H-PND machine is a great piece of equipment you can add to your home gym.

It allows you to perform exercises that are usually performed using two separate machines but combines it into one saving you time, money, and space.

The titan machine is great at building lower-body size and strength and with its full steel build, is built to last for a long time.

It allows you to overload your exercises with weight making it a great tool for building muscle.

Though barbells make up the majority of my routine, nothing allows me to overload my muscles more than using a machine.

Implement machines into your routine in order to target the smaller, less easy to train machines with accessory exercises.

Overall, this equipment is a great bang for your buck, and I’m certain you’ll enjoy it as well.
